Nota d'usoL'aggettivo italiano magro riferito a una persona può essere tradotto in inglese in diversi modi, che comportano diverse sfumature di significato. Se si usa l'aggettivo “slim”, si vuole enfatizzare il fatto che una persona è magra perché è in forma: Luisa è una bella donna, alta e magra, Luisa is a beautiful woman, she's tall and slim. La parola “thin”, invece, implica che una persona è davvero esile e potrebbe migliorare d'aspetto aumentando di peso: È molto magra, sono certa che non mangia abbastanza, she's very thin, I'm sure she doesn't eat enough. Infine, l'aggettivo “skinny” indica che una persona è troppo magra, pelle e ossa: skinny models, modelle magrissime.
